Imagine biting into a slice of freshly baked bread, warm from the oven, with a crust that is crispy on the outside and a soft, fluffy interior. It’s the perfect accompaniment to any meal, or can be enjoyed on its own.

Baking bread can be a rewarding experience, but it can also be intimidating, especially if you’re a beginner. There are so many different recipes out there, and it can be hard to know where to start.

In this blog post, I’m going to share my recipe for a simple but delicious bread that is perfect for beginners and experienced bakers alike. This bread is made with just a few simple ingredients, and it’s guaranteed to make your friends and family jealous.

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (105-115 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and yeast.
  2. Add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Tips for Kneading the Dough:

  • If the dough is too sticky, add a little bit of flour at a time until it becomes manageable.
  • If the dough is too dry, add a little bit of water at a time until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Knead the dough until it is smooth and bounces back when you press it with your finger.

Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down and divide it in half.

Shape each half of the dough into a loaf and place in a greased 9×5 inch loaf pan.

Cover the pans with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Bake the loaves for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.

Let the loaves cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing and slicing.

Additional Tips:

  • For a chewier crust, brush the top of the loaves with a little bit of milk before baking.
  • For a crispier crust, bake the loaves for a few minutes longer.
  • To make a flavored bread, add herbs, spices, or other ingredients to the dough before kneading.
  • If you don’t have a loaf pan, you can bake the bread on a baking sheet. Just be sure to grease the sheet well so the bread doesn’t stick.

Once you’ve mastered this basic recipe, you can experiment with different ingredients and techniques to create your own unique breads.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Add whole wheat flour, rye flour, or other flours to your bread for a more complex flavor and texture.
  • Add seeds, nuts, or dried fruit to your bread for added flavor and nutrition.
  • Try different shaping techniques, such as braiding or twisting the dough before baking.
  • Experiment with different baking methods, such as baking the bread in a Dutch oven or on a pizza stone.

With a little practice, you’ll be baking delicious breads that will make your friends and family jealous!
